To deliver on our corporate purpose of making wonderful sound part of everyone’s life, WS Audiology is looking for a creative and experienced engineer to work on world-leading hearing-aid sound, audiological algorithms, and hearing-loss compensation. The role resides in the “Sound & Fitting” team, part of the Global R&D Audiology department. You will contribute to the team’s goal to develop new audiological innovations in hearing-aid algorithms, sound quality, hearing-loss compensation, and the specification of features for fitting software. Our flagship hearing-aid brands are Widex and Signia. The Team You and your colleagues are innovative engineers in acoustics, audio signal processing or hearing sciences, and audiology. They enjoy inventing new concepts and building early prototypes and implementing solutions by specifications and programming in ASIC, firmware, or software solutions. All this takes place in close collaboration within and outside our team. The team counts 18 colleagues, including three team leads with domain-specific focus areas. We all work in a cross-functional agile setting. The Role One of the cornerstones of modern hearing-aid solutions is the hearing-aid chip platform and its signal-processing architecture and features. We develop this in-house, and we have clear and solid motivations and vision for creating the world’s best platforms and features. Our focus in the Sound & Fitting team is to contribute to the early signal-processing development, optimization of the hearing aid sound, and development of fitting of hearing-aid gain and features to the user’s individual hearing needs. We also contribute to the later implementation of features in the fitting software, which is used in clinics to fit the hearing aid to our users. We work in cross-functional project teams and contribute with our capability to bridge the knowledge between the hearing needs, the chip platform, signal processing features, software solutions, and sound quality. In summary, in this position you will have the following capacity and responsibilities: Developing audiological solutions in the interface between Auditory Perception, Audio Signal Processing, and Audiology. Ability to understand signal-processing platform architecture, hearing-aid algorithms, their parameters, and basic software specifications. Work with system requirement specification, documentation, and testing. Work with troubleshooting complex systems (interactions of several subsystems). Candidate profile We are looking for an engineer to work on the interface between hearing-aid technology platforms and audiological software solutions. This requires insights into audio signal processing, hearing-aid algorithms, and basic technical audiology. Ideally, you hold an engineering degree or equivalent in a relevant technical field. You are driven by curiosity in the search for the best and most innovative solutions for people who are challenged in acoustic communication. You have the skills to contribute to the advancement of high-quality hearing-aid platforms, hearing-aid sound, and technical audiological solutions. You work comfortably and efficiently in cross-functional teams having a common goal. You are creative when facing complex problems and can break down complex tasks and plan your daily work. You will be an ideal candidate if you have: Hands-on background in audio signal processing and audio engineering.
