Team Lead, 3rd Party Payments & Crypto

TransferMate is seeking a Team Lead, 3rd Party Payments & Crypto who will report to Head of Global Due Diligence (“GDD”) and who will manage and oversee the overall framework that enables TransferMate to ensure it can successfully deliver payment services to regulated entities providing crypto-related services, and / or payment services to other regulated financial institutions. The position is a senior member of the Global Compliance team and plays a key role across the global business. The role will oversee a specialist team and will have the opportunity to develop a new compliance program from the ground up.

Ideally, you should have direct experience in onboarding and monitoring Fintech customers, and/or foreign correspondent banking relationships; experience or knowledge in the crypto space is ideal also.

You will be responsible for conducting Due Diligence on new relationships, including detailed risk assessments and risk profiling based on information such as the nature, size, and complexity of the clients business, the jurisdictions operated in, ownership structure, the adequacy and effectiveness of the clients anti-money laundering and counter-terrorism financing and sanctions systems and controls. You will work closely with the business and the Global Chief Risk & Compliance Officer in shaping the end-to-end program and go-to-market strategy.

Responsibilities:

• Represent GDD in multiple forums, internally and externally, including senior management discussions and key stakeholder meetings across the business, compliance, and operations
• Work with management team to provide strategic direction and develop all aspects of the GDD control environment (e.g., people, process, technology, and governance) and enhance the end-to-end customer onboarding experience as it relates to 3rd Party Payments & Crypto
• Take the lead role in TransferMate’s 3rd Party Payments & Crypto onboarding strategy, working with project managers, consultants, vendors, and internal stakeholders
• Drive initiatives to build out and implement the 3rd Party Payments & Crypto compliance program, including creating and implementing policies and procedures
• Create efficiencies in the onboarding, ongoing monitoring of 3rd Party Payments & Crypto clients
• Appropriately assess risk on daily basis and escalate matters when required to Regional Compliance and Senior Management
• Oversee the specialist team located in Mexico, Bulgaria etc., provide relevant and timely updates to management on efficiency of internal processing of cases, mentoring staff and ensuring best in-class procedures are in place

Requirements

• 3 years’ experience providing Compliance support within Financial Services, preferably with a focus on Correspondent Banking, Third Party Payments, Crypto, Marketplaces or Transactional Banking
• Strong background in Know Your Business / Know Your Customer / Know Your Bank
• Experience interacting with senior management and other internal stakeholders, presenting updates for the program
• Expertise in onboarding and monitoring of correspondent banking clients or similar (e.g. Fintech / MSBs)
• Strong leadership and ability to drive change across an organization
• Hands-on experience in developing and overseeing a control framework to onboard and monitor clients performing 3rd party payment flows e.g. Fintech’s / MSB / Banks / Crypto
• Strong knowledge of CDD regulation around the world, or at least in the core markets where TransferMate operates
• Strong verbal and written communicator
• Strong excel and data management skills
• Commercial awareness with ability to demonstrate a sound knowledge of wider business factors
• Available to travel (less than 5% of time)
